WHEN IN ROME – CLIFF RICHARD – With Accompaniment by THE SHADOWS – AND NORRIE PARAMOR AND HIS ORCHESTRA

This present LP specially released to meet the continued demand in Britain for more and more Cliff Richard recordings— was originally made solely for the Italian market, where Cliff is a regular chart rider. Cliff’s performances are so great that Columbia felt they should be made available to British fans. On some of the titles, Cliff is backed by his erstwhile colleagues, The Shadows; on others by the Norrie Paramor Orchestra, who have backed Cliff on the bulk of his big ballad hits. All but two of the songs — Don’t Talk To Him (written by Cliff) and House Without Windows—.are Italian in origin, and Cliff handles the difficult language as if he’s been speaking it all his life. In fact, apart from English, Italian is the fourth foreign language Cliff has recorded in—the others being French, German and Spanish. It’s not unusual to find a British artist singing in a foreign language these days, but it is rare to find such a record as polished, poised and convincing as this set by Cliff’—another valuable addition to the already bulging library of recordings by Britain’s top singing star You may not understand all the words, but you can’t fail to be impressed yet again by the style, finesse and all-round talent of Britain’s “Golden Boy” — Cliff Richard!
