Here is the third video in this series, taken from a recording session I did last week for a Shadows album I am working on with one of my bands.
Very up-tempo and with lots of stops, stabs, accents and things, it’s a hard one to keep on top of memory-wise. It feels like everything is coming up really fast and you have to keep thinking a few bars ahead. Brian Bennett of course looks lovely and relaxed playing this, with his wonderful touch and style. For me, it’s a full-on purple faced couple of minutes, as I struggle to capture the essence of what he played.
The backing track is original Shadows, with the drums (mostly) removed. So what you hear on this video is 95% my drums, and just a few artefacts from the original drums. I used XTrax Stems II software. Please listen with quality headphones if you can!
More tracks from this session on their way – FBI, Apache, Footapper, Kon Tiki, Man of Mystery, and hopefully Savage (depends how it works out!). I hope you enjoy.
Drum Tec Shells, Pearl Mimic Pro Module, ATV Artist cymbals, Porter & Davies BC Gigster.
