The tune was written by Brian Bennett (Drummer in The Shadows) with Keith Mansfield and released on the B side of the Grandstand Theme on a BBC Records 7 inch single.
It was the theme tune of the BBC2 programme "Rugby Special" (it replaced the original theme by Paddy Kingsland called "Spinball").
Now it has been adopted with great affection by Borders Rugby Radio which uses this music as its theme tune for its own "Borders Rugby Special" and "Friday Rugby Preview" programmes.
