Does anyone reading this have a full copy of Top Pop Videos 84? It was broadcast on Christmas Day of that year as ITV’s answer to Top of the Pops. Following my previous upload ( https://youtu.be/rmsCh4Wvrnc ) on the subject, @mkmarty69 very kindly sent me the first 33 minutes or so – but that’s all he had. So now you’ve got two people asking for a complete recording.

I can’t upload the music videos themselves, of course, but the in-between links from the luminaries of the pop scene of the day are the unique selling point anyway, so that’s what I’ve edited together here. For the record, the line-up of the portion of the show we have was:

Frankie Goes to Hollywood – Relax
Queen – Radio Ga Ga
*Spandau Ballet link
Nik Kershaw – Wouldn’t It Be Good
*Culture Club link
Ultravox – Dancing with Tears in My Eyes
*Bananarama link
Big Country – Where the Rose is Sown
*Status Quo link
Elton John – Sad Songs
*Jim Diamond link
Paul McCartney – We All Stand Together
Spandau Ballet – Highly Strung
*Paul McCartney link
Paul Young – Love of the Common People
*Bronski Beat link
Bananarama – Robert De Niro’s Waiting
*Nik Kershaw link
Status Quo – The Wanderer
*Noddy Holder link
Jim Diamond – I Should Have Known Better
*Big Country link
Shakin’ Stevens – A Love Worth Waiting For
*Howard Jones link
Wham! – Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
*Kim Wilde link
Bronski Beat – Smalltown Boy
*Paul Young link
Culture Club – The War Song
Kim Wilde – The Second Time
*Cliff Richard link
Howard Jones – Like to Get to Know You Well
*Midge Ure link
Thompson Twins – Doctor! Doctor!
Duran Duran – The Wild Boys

And that’s where the recording cut out, I think maybe 10 minutes short of the end. This all goes to demonstrate just how unpredictable the human memory can be. For instance, three of the four acts that I previously said I didn’t remember being featured did in fact have a video played. On the other hand, I managed to not only name the first three songs of the show, but I got them in the correct order, too.

But whatever. Seriously, if anyone out there has a complete recording of Top Pop Videos 84 (or just from Duran Duran onwards) – whether a digitised file or still on VHS – please get in touch by leaving a comment below, or by messaging me at my same username on either Twitter or Bluesky.

(If you’re a copyright holder and have any objections, please feel free to contact me. Alternatively, I haven’t monetised the video, so you’re welcome to do so, and that way everybody wins.)
