On the podcast, I’m joined by Italian director Luca Guadagnino to talk about his latest film A Bigger Splash.
It’s set in a beautiful villa on the Sicilian island of Pantelleria, a real summer holiday movie, where a recuperating rock star Marianne Lane (Tilda Swinton) – relaxing with her attentive younger lover (Matthias Schoenaerts) – has her idyll shattered by a visit from her live wire ex-boyfriend and record producer Harry (Ralph Fiennes), who has a newly-discovered, nubile daughter in tow (Dakota Johnson).
A tale of sex, sun and privilege, A Bigger Splash is a terrific film, instantly enjoyable yet with disturbing ripples. Hear how they made it here.
