This is a show that celebrates the hit songs of three popular artists in their own right, Cliff Richard, The Shadows & Dusty Springfield.
With over 250 million record sales worldwide, Sir Cliff Richard is a British pop singer and performer who dominated the British popular music scene in the pre-Beatles period of the late 1950’s to early 1960’s.
The Shadows are a British instrumental rock group and were Cliff Richard’s back band. With 69 UK chart singles from the 1950’s to 2000’s, 35 credited to the Shadows and 34 to Cliff Richard and the Shadows. This group, who were in the forefront of the UK beat-group boom, were the first backing band to emerge as stars.
Dusty Springfield was an English pop singer whose career extended from the late 1950’s to the 1990’s. With her unique sensual mezzo-soprano sound, she was an important blue-eyed soul singer and at her peak was one of the most successful British female performers.
This show concentrates mainly on the early Cliff Richard. You will hear songs Move It, The Young Ones, Living Doll, Summer Holiday. Congratulations and many more. The Dusty songs will include Son of a Preacher Man, You Don’t have to Say You Love me, I Only Wanna Be We You, Wishin’ and Hopin’ and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.
Instrumental songs of The Shadows include the well-known Apache, The Rise & Fall of Flingel Bunt, Kontiki, Foot Tapper and Dance On.
This production features the members of Akinga with Sam Pulman performing the songs of Cliff Richard and also plays those fantastic songs of The Shadows with that unmistakable sound of Hank Marvin.
Bonnie Kellett plays the role of Dusty Springfield and the show is support by a live band of great musicians.
