There are many wonderful renditions of “Sleepwalk”, but the one that I find most pleasing is the version played by Hank Marvin, with his son Ben on rhythm guitar, during the concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fender Stratocaster, at Wembley Arena on 24th September, 2004. For my rendition, I have attempted to match Hank’s sound and style from that performance, as seen in this video clip from the 2005 film, “The Strat Pack: Live in Concert”, which can be found here: https://youtu.be/O7QFbI1c_0U?si=Fks5sLBoiDJQ_RRM.

Originally composed and recorded in 1959 by Santo & Johnny Farina, “Sleepwalk” is an instrumental guitar classic that has been covered by many artists, including The Shadows, who featured their version on their first UK album ‘The Shadows’, released in September 1961.

I am using a Fender Custom Shop ’57 Stratocaster, TVS3 echo unit and modified Vox AC15C1 amplifier, recorded into Reaper DAW via a Shure SM57 microphone and Focusrite Clarett 4Pre USB interface. I made the backing track by removing Hank’s lead guitar from the original Strat Pack audio using Moises AI. Video was recorded using a Sony FDR-AX53 camcorder.

I DO NOT OWN THE COPYRIGHT TO THIS COMPOSITION, THE MELODY OR ANY ORIGINAL RECORDINGS. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED. ALL TRADEMARKS AND COPYRIGHTS REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THEIR LEGAL OWNERS.
